The use of Generative AI (GenAI) in the ebook space is a quickly evolving area that we are actively educating ourselves on. Provided below is a short FAQ on how GenAI currently impacts The Palace Project and what you can expect from us moving forward.

How is GenAI and AI-assisted content displayed in Palace?

The Palace app is able to display information communicated via the ONIX record from a publisher and/or distributor concerning AI-generated or AI-narrated content. This information will be displayed in the book details screen. It is important to note that Palace is only able to display the information received from the publisher and distributor of the content and is therefore reliant on that record to display the most accurate information available.

How does the Palace Engineering Team Use GenAI in Development?

The Palace Engineering team is committed to using GenAI responsibly to expedite code development and deployment. The team views GenAI as an accelerator to allow development to move quickly while also using a critical lens to determine when GenAI use is appropriate.

What You Can Expect from The Palace Team

As a library-centered platform, here is what you can expect from us:

• Transparency on how generative AI is used in software development of the Palace suite of products.
• Commitment to identifying GenAI written or narrated materials in the Palace Marketplace where possible based on publisher disclosed information via the ONIX record.
