About OAPEN

OAPEN is an online library of open-access, peer-reviewed books, predominantly in the humanities and social sciences, available to everyone for free.

• Public library access: Patrons can freely access the OAPEN library directly, without a library membership, via the platform's website. The main role for public libraries and their consortia is to increase discoverability of these open-access (OA) titles. They accomplish this by integrating OAPEN's metadata into their library catalogs and discovery systems so that the books appear in search results alongside their other collection items.
• Consortia engagement: Academic and library consortia have partnered with OAPEN. This amplifies the use of OA resources for their members by enabling them to include OAPEN's ebook records in their discovery tools and receive usage statistics.

It's easy to copy, revise, remix, and redistribute any openly licensed content found here using Pressbooks' publishing platform. Nearly all books are highly accessible, and many include interactive H5P learning activities to engage learners

About UPLOpen University Press Library Open (UPLOpen) is an ambitious effort to accelerate open access eBook publishing in the scholarly community. Launched in 2024, in response to calls from the scholarly community, UPLOpen grew organically from the success of the De Gruyter University Press Library (UPL), a program developed by academic publisher De Gruyter to make the acquisition of eBook collections more predictable and sustainable for both presses and libraries.
