The Palace Project Collection Manager can provide basic MARC records for import into your library’s ILS/OPAC. This integration can be enabled for your library by request by emailing The Palace Project Support Team at [email protected]
<aside> 💡 Discovery Only
The Palace MARC record generator can be enabled to create MARC records for any of the collections integrated into your library’s configuration in Palace. Your library will be able to ingest the MARC records into your ILS or OPAC discovery layer directly using a dedicated URL specific to your library. Patrons will not be able to borrow Palace content from your catalog and currently you cannot link to an item record via the web for checkout, except when using the Aspen Discovery Layer integration. Otherwise, patrons must visit the Palace mobile app to borrow and access content.

<aside> 💡 ILS and OPAC Integrations
Traditional ILS catalog systems and OPAC discovery platforms provide a web catalog interface that requires metadata ingestion via the MARC record. Some ILS vendors provide programmatic ingest from APIs or open protocols such as OPDS (the protocol used by the Palace Apps and Collection Manager) but not all have the capability to do so. Therefore, the Palace Collection Manager accommodates the use of MARC records as a common metadata exchange format for content aggregated by Palace so it can be included in a library’s ILS or OPAC.

Aspen Discovery Layer Integration
Palace item records can now be directly integrated into the Aspen Discovery system. In order to integrate Palace content into Aspen, follow the instructions outlined by ByWater Solutions. Additionally, the Aspen Discovery system will need the following two items of information about your Palace integration including:
Email [email protected] to request this information.

The script that generates MARC records in Palace runs once per day at 1am local time. The script goes through each configured content source integrated for your library in Palace, generates any MARC files that need to be created, and uploads them to a shared storage location. This means that the first night after a new content integration is configured in Palace, MARC records for each associated library will be generated, uploaded, and made available to you.
